Our Story
Willow Tree Studios journey began March 13, 2020, the day everything shut down. I was working at the Fort Collins Senior Center and had been for about 7 years. After a couple of weeks of being home, everyone was scrambling to figure out how to maintain their health while dealing with the risk of a global pandemic. I had a couple of determined clients who contacted me and said we need to be moving can you do something online? Luckily, I was familiar with Zoom and I was able to rely on my in house IT crew (my adult children) for help with filling in tech gaps. One of my co-workers at the Senior Center had moved to California just before the pandemic started. I contacted her and she joined me in starting WTS. The first year was a huge learning curve with everyone figuring out how to make use of online options. Soon everyone was logging on with ease. From there it was all uphill, getting the equipment to create a good audio and video experience, figuring out what classes would work well online, and spreading the word about Willow Tree.
The studio has transformed over time from a temporary fill in class to a strong fitness community with a variety of movement options, a goal of not only adding years to our life but adding life to our years and a knowledge that lifestyle can positively impact all individuals.
We started with two classes and now we offer ten classes each week in real time on Zoom or as recordings at your convenience. We offer an Urban Poling/Nordic Walking class to members and non-members that takes advantage of all the walking paths, parks and natural areas near us.
