Kathy started working with me way back when I had a class of 8 people in a small room at the Senior Center. When we started Willow Tree Studios, she was one of the first to join.
She was recently diagnosed at National Jewish with COPD, asthma and emphysema. Kathy said: “I am on oxygen at night and when I am in your class for the cardio parts. They had me going to rehab classes at the hospital, but it was basically a treadmill and a NuStep. They had me doing weights while seated at the end for 5 minutes. I told my doctor that I got way more exercise and way more of everything (balance, weights, coordination and some cardio) in your classes so they let me out of there.
Your classes won’t help with oxygen but the doc said I need to keep up my strength and energy, which is exactly what I get from your classes. I KNOW we’re in the right track…I feel so much better after class for days…not to mention what that does for my mental attitude.”
Exercise is known to support those with illnesses like COPD, asthma, or emphysema. Some of the benefits include helping to improve breathing, bolstering energy levels, and reducing anxiety and depression. No matter where you are in your journey, exercise can provide these benefits.
When Kathy is not in class she is spending time with laughing with friends, hanging out with her family, and taking her daily walks with her buddy Charley. Kathy and her husband recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
