The adult human body has 206 bones. We begin with 300 as newborns but some bones fuse together. Additionally due to individual differences in the number of vertebrae or ribs some people have as many as 213.


Bones are the structural support system, giving our bodies shape and protection of vital organs like brain, heart and lungs. They store calcium and other minerals. Bone marrow is crucial for producing blood cells. Want to know all the names of the bones in our bodies? You can find those here.
